In order to collect the segregated solid waste BBMP implemented Door to Door collection in all the wards of BBMP from the below mentioned collection points which do not fall under the category of Bulk waste generators: -
- Doorstep of households, shops, small commercial establishments and offices.
- Entry Gate or an accessible designated location at the ground floor in the multi storied buildings or apartments, housing societies, residential, commercial, institutional complexes.
- Entry point or specified collection points of slums and informal settlements.
BBMP shall collect the segregated waste area-wise, Waste type at specific time slots such as wet waste along with the domestic hazardous waste (including sanitary waste) daily. Dry waste at least twice or thrice a week as per necessity (To access route map for collection including stops, starting and ending times and other relevant details including time slots.
BBMP has a fleet of 4646 Auto Tippers (Primary Collecting Vehicles) deployed for door to door collection. 618 Compactors deployed for collecting and transporting waste from secondary collection points (Transfer Stations) in order to ensure 100% door to door collection.
All the primary and secondary transportation vehicles are designed in such a way that solid waste shall not drop on the ground until it reaches its final processing/disposal site. Transportation of collected segregated solid waste is of bin to bin and vehicle to vehicle
In addition to the door to door collection BBMP notified certain areas within its jurisdiction which are inaccessible for collection vehicles/ pushcarts where Kiosks are setup, Kiosk is a point where segregated solid waste to be deposited by the waste generators from where BBMP or authorized service provider shall make necessary arrangements for transportation of the segregated waste for further processing and disposal
Waste generators who are notified as bulk waste generators should ensure segregation of solid waste (Dry, Wet and Domestic Hazardous including sanitary waste at their premises. Subjected to availability of space waste to be processed, treated and disposed of through the methods approved by KSPCB/CPCB or they can engage authorized waste processor for collection, transportation and processing of solid waste.
